Illinois State Capitol Room 212

Springfield, IL

Contracting directly with the Illinois State Office of the Architect of the Capitol, EverGreene has performed restoration work throughout the Illinois State Capitol over the course of several years and multiple phases. For Room 212, EverGreene performed a historic finishes study in this most richly decorated room. The historic decorative scheme was reinstated with dozens of colors and finishes, including metallic paints and powders, stenciling, glazing, gilding, faux bois, and marbleizing. Unique carton-pierre ornament was conserved in the ceiling, and two scagliola columns and bases were restored. Two murals, Justice and Eagle, were documented, stabilized, and conserved.
